1604 De Monts and Samuel de Champlain built a habitation on Ile Ste-Croix in Acadia.
1606 to 1607 After a disastrous winter, the Ste-Croix colonists were moved to Port-Royal. Champlain organized the Ordre de Bon Temps, the first social club in North America.
1606 Marc Lescarbot put on the first European theatrical production in Canada, or North America, called Le Théâtre de Neptune.

1607 May 14 Jamestown, Virginia, was founded by Captain Christopher Newport of the London Company, the first English colony in America.
1610 May 14 Frances Henri IV was assassinated at Paris by the fanatic François Ravaillac. He was succeeded by his 9-year-old son, who would reign as Louis XIII.
1610 July 5 John Guy and 39 settlers departed Bristol, England arriving in Newfoundland in August. Though his settlement at Cupids Bay lasted only to 1628 its founding was a signal event in the early history of Newfoundland.
1623 February 4 The feudal seigneurial system was instituted in New France, when Louis Hébert was granted the fief of Sault-au-Matelot, near Québec. The system was not abolished until 1854.
