The status of women is a longstanding issue that continues to affect the world today. In certain countries, women do not enjoy the living conditions that women have in Canada, and are denied certain fundamental rights. While women are given their rightful place in Canada today, that has not always been the case. Women had to fight to get the rights they enjoy today; it was not an automatic process. Canadian women fought hard for emancipation, and these battles are the focus of this section. It includes the Persons Case and the integration of women in the workplace.
