The Historica Foundation names the Honourable Myra Freeman, ONS, as President of its advisory council

Toronto – Thursday, March 8, 2007 - Mr. Avie Bennett, CC, OOnt., Chairman of the Historica Foundation, is pleased to announce the appointment of the Honourable Myra A. Freeman, ONS, as President of the Historica Council. Ms. Freeman succeeds the Honourable Peter Lougheed PC, CC, QC, former Premier of Alberta, who served from 2003 to 2007.

The Hon. Myra Freeman, former Lieutenant Governor of the Province of Nova Scotia (2000-2006) and first Chancellor of the Order of Nova Scotia, is a graduate of Dalhousie University and an educator. Ms. Freeman is the recipient of the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal, Doctor of Humane Letters and Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, the Woman of Action Humanitarian Award and recognized as one of Canada's 100 Outstanding Women. Ms. Freeman currently serves on the Advisory Board of Homburg Canada and Homburg Invest Inc., as a Director of Historica Foundation, and as Honorary Captain (Navy) affiliated with Maritime Forces Atlantic.

Wilson, OC, provides Canadians with a deeper understanding of their history and its importance in shaping their future.
